Patient and public involvement in health and care services is important to both the national and local NHS. The NHS Constitution sets out the principles and values of the NHS, and the NHS South Norfolk CCG (SNCCG) Constitution sets out patients rights and responsibilities.
SNCCG wants to ensure that the patient view is fully embedded in all aspects of the way we plan and develop services, and in our decision-making processes. Take a look at this infographic to see how we do this. The CCG produces Engagement Annual Reports as a summary of how it has attempted to do this over the previous year.
We have a Communications and Engagement Strategy to underpin our work. This is a shared strategy with NHS South Norfolk CCG as we have shared management arrangements. For more information about the work of our CCG please see the our Annual Report.
People who give their time to help us imporve services should not be out of pocket. We have developed a Volunteer Expenses Policy.

These are some of the ways that you can get involved:
- Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) & PPG Conference - Patient participation groups offer members of the public the opportunity to become more involved in how the practice runs. Find out how to join your local PPG.
- Stakeholder Engagement Panel (SEP) - The Stakeholder Engagement Panel meets bi-monthly and comprises representatives invited from key strategic groups to act as a bridge between the community of rural Broadland and north Norfolk, and the CCG.
- Public Consultations - When a service is closed, substantially changed or proposals are made for a new service, the NHS is required to launch a formal public consultation process. This gives anyone wishing to voice their concerns, raise suggestions or support the proposal the opportunity to do so. At the same time CCGs are required to give local people the opportunity to take part in on-going engagement opportunities so they can have a voice in the day-to-day running of local commissioning. - Research - Practices in South Norfolk and Breckland support research into illness and NHS services. Research is taking place all the time across health and social care, however it cannot happen without your help. Find out how you can take an active role in developing services and treatments for future generations.

Healthwatch Norfolk is the local consumer champion for health and social care in the county. Formed in April 2013, as a result of the Health and Social Care Act, they are an independent organisation with statutory powers.
Youth Advisory Boards
The South Norfolk YAB and Breckland YAB were set up in 2012 with the aims of supporting young people aged 11 to 25 to have their voice in their community about the facilities and services they need.
