Norfolk and Waveney’s Sustainability and Transformation Partnership has begun a major review of local adult mental health services. The review will inform the development of a 10 year mental health strategy, ensuring services are delivered in ways that meet future needs.
We are asking for a wide range of views on our adult mental health services across Norfolk and Waveney, and we would like to hear any experiences you, or someone close to you, may have had in accessing support and care recently.
The case for reviewing mental health services
Mental illness is thought to affect 163,000 adults in Norfolk and Waveney. Although rates of severe mental illness such as psychosis are broadly in line or lower than the UK average, there is a higher level of disease related to ‘common mental illness’ - problems such as depression, stress and anxiety. Up to 19.1% of the adult population are affected by depression or anxiety.
The region’s ageing population has also driven dementia rates above the national average, most notably in North Norfolk where 1.2% of the population suffers with dementia compared to 0.8% across the UK.
How to get involved
It is vital that we hear from people that have experience of getting help for their mental health needs, or accessing mental health services locally. We also want to hear from families and carers that support a person or loved one’s mental wellbeing.
You can give your views via an online survey available here: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/NWMentalHealthReview/
Printable and accessible versions of the survey can be downloaded below. You can return these to the following Freepost address:
